The story behind the initiative

We are grateful for the support

and contributions of our friends

who helped us kickstart the project

In 2016, in Colombia, a group of friends came together with a mission to help the homeless in Bogota endure the freezing nights of their city, which sat over 2600 meters above sea level. They could not bear the thought of people living without shelter, so they conceived the Nomad Jacket. This innovative garment serves as a jacket, a sleeping bag, and a blanket all in one, conveniently fitting into a backpack. It provides warmth and hope in the harshest conditions.

The talented creators behind the Nomad Jacket are Guillermo Zambrano, Daniel Turriago, Adriana Calderon, Natalia Escallon, Miguel Carvajal, Beatriz Paez, Daniela Ariza, Esperanza Sastoque, Fernando Rodriguez, Ivette Malagon, Jaqueline Estupinan, Juan Camilo Lopez, Laura Malagon, and Alvaro Carillo.

Special acknowledgments go to Lisa Co, Camilla Kennedy, and Ethical Elements for their invaluable sewing skills, technical support, and dispelling of myths. Raquel and Aza deserve recognition for creating a fantastic video explanation, while Laura Manrique provided valuable input and improvements to the Nomad Jacket.

Homelessness is a global issue
that demands collective action
and comprehensive solutions.

With 1.6 billion people residing in poor housing worldwide and
15 million forcibly evicted annually, it's crucial to understand the struggles faced by homeless individuals. By fostering compassion and working together, we can create a more inclusive society.
